Dog keeps breaking tie out cable

Dog keeps breaking tie out cable for dog cage. I tried all cables and still no luck.

Hi, I have a dog cage my dog chews the cables that are attached to the dog crate to the ceiling.

I have replaced the wire many times and I am still in the same situation. There are no wires for the ceiling other than the ones that he chews, no loose wires dangling down from the ceiling of my dog's house. I can check the wire in my house and in the one for the dog cage and all is fine.

My question is how do I secure a wire that has been chewed off and keep my dog from chewing the wire again?

I'm hoping it's something relatively easy, otherwise I would probably need to call an electrician, I'm not 100% sure what else could be going on and I've searched all over the internet and can't find an answer that I understand.

Thank you for your help,

Do you have dog wire in the ceiling? You could also go to your local hardware store and purchase some "dog chewer" tape (just like for carpet) to hang on the ceiling as a deterrent, it should not hurt your dog unless they chew through it, and the cable you're referring to would also work.

As for why you have no dog wire, maybe you're thinking about the ceiling instead? The wires for your house would only be attached to a small box on the floor, but it would be more than a mile away from your dog's cage, so it makes more sense that you should have dog wire in the ceiling.

I'm using the word "dog" and "wire" because I think a lot of people will have a hard time describing what the wire looks like. It's just a wire and there's no "dog" attached to it. Also, I'm assuming the wire is a metal wire because if you took the wire off of the ceiling there would be nothing connecting it to the wall.

Yup, that's right. I was thinking a dog was connected to the dog wire, and maybe a piece of wire was missing.

I've had no problems so far - it does come with a tag. Maybe the tag is missing from the box. I just got it this week and took it to the store.

I really don't think it would be that easy to disconnect a dog. If a dog has chewed through it, maybe it would come off the ceiling but it wouldn't come off the dog. It would come off the dog and dog wire. That would be a disaster for them.

I haven't done this with dogs, so I can't say for sure. I think the best way would be to replace the damaged cable. I'm sure they would just chew through the new cable too.

I think your tag needs to be a little longer. Mine has a string with just enough so that the cable is hanging and you can see it from the bottom. Mine has a tag that starts at an inch, so your tag should be at least 2 or 3 inches long.

What I do is, I tie the cable from the ceiling to a loop I've made, and the end of that loop is tied to a ring on my dog's collar, so I can easily grab the cable. It lets me pull my dog back up, and I can be sure it's not going to pull him or the leash off the dog or even off the dog wire.

I don't know what to do with the other end of the cable though. I don't want to tie it to the dog's collar. Maybe to the dog's leash? I don't know. I'm just not sure how to connect the dog's leash and the dog to the dog wire. That would be a disaster for them.

Good suggestion, I was just thinking of a simple loop/tag combo.
